Duchess Kate catches falling Countess at Royal Ascot

The first day of Royal Ascot is always one of the highlights of the British social calendar, and the Royal Family were out in force to celebrate the event.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were joined by Queen Elizabeth II and several other notables including Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex, to celebrate the swanky day of racing at Berkshire racecourse.

It wasn’t all style and grace however, with the Countess of Wessex almost taking a tumble while finding her spot in an open carriage. Thankfully Kate was there to catch her.

The Royal Family arrived via a procession which was followed by a minute’s silence for the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire and London and Manchester terror attacks. The racecourse reportedly made a £100,000 (approximately $AU166,537) donation to support those affected by the recent disasters.
