The device that can recharge dead batteries
A tech company in Silicon Valley is hoping to shake up the disposable battery market later this year with the release of a tiny device that can supposedly increase the life of a battery by 800 per cent. No, that wasn’t a typo – 800 per cent.
The “Batteriser” is a device crafted from .1mm thin stainless steel and can slide over disposable batteries to make use of their full capacity. According to the founder of company Batteroo, Bob Roohparvar, batteries still have up to 80 per cent of their power remaining when they stop working.
Roohparar likened the effectiveness of disposable batteries to squeezing a tube of toothpaste only from the top. “You’re only going to get so much out of the tube,” he told CNN.
It is hoped that the Batteriser will help people cut down on money spent on disposable batteries each year, as well as halve the number of batteries that end up in landfill. The device will be available for purchase on Amazon later this year, retailing at under US$10 for a pack of four.
