Scientists spot cluster of suns and capture amazing image
Stargazing scientists in Chile have spotted a distant star cluster within the Milky Way containing over a million densely packed stars. Using the GeMS (Gemini Multi-conjugate adaptive optics System) at the Gemini South Observatory on Cerro Pachon, the team of scientists was able to pierce the dense fog surrounding the cluster and capture this incredible image.
Known as Liller 1, the cluster is roughly 30,000 light-years away, and is an exciting discovery for those who are anxious to study stellar collisions. Liller 1 is thought to be one of the best locations to observe the exciting collisions of one sun into another, as it will help shed light on exotic objects in space.
