British singer Cilla Black dies at 72

English singer, actress and entertainer, Cilla Black has died at the age of 72.

The star was found dead in her home in Spain and, according to the local police, is believed to have passed away of natural causes.

"We are still awaiting autopsy results but everything at this stage is pointing towards her death being the result of natural causes,” police stated.

With a career that spanned across over 50 decades, the Liverpool actress was responsible for many hit singles and eventually made the transition into television.

Singer Joan Collins tweeted about Black’s death, saying, “I am so sad and shocked by news about my good friend Cilla. She was a resplendent and rare talent RIP."

Black has left behind three sons and two grandchildren, and has just fallen shy of her self-proclaimed mark, having recently told The Mirror, "75 is a good age to go.”
