Sir Christopher Lee dies at age 93

Veteran actor, Sir Christopher Lee, has passed away at the age of 93 after being hospitalised for respiratory problems and heart failure. Known as the master of horror, Lee was immortalised in films like Dracula, The Wicker Man and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

He died at 8.30am on Sunday morning at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.

His wife of over 50 years, former Danish model Birgit Kroencke, held back information for four days until all family and friends were informed.

Lee was knighted in 2009 for services to drama and charity, and awarded the Bafta fellowship in 2011.

His death has prompted an outpouring of grief and tributes from actors, musicians and even the British prime minister.
