Heroic cat claims award for saving a little boy’s life

In a shocking twist, a brave Bakersfield cat has been the first to nab a Los Angeles shelter's 33rdannual Hero Dog Award.

Last May 2014, video footage emerged of the heroic cat, Tara, who saved her six-year-old owner, Jeremy Triantafilo, from a savage canine attack. After slamming his body into the chow-mix, the cat chased the dog away. Leaving the boy with eight stitches, the offending dog was later euthanised.

Tara received her award from the SPCALA last Friday, on which the word “dog” was scratched out and replaced with “cat” in her honour.
