Australia’s favourite politician? Scott Morrison scores major approval amid crisis

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has recorded the second highest approval rating of any PM since 2008.

The Australian leader took in a 68 per cent satisfaction rate according to the latest Newspoll data, which shows him in the lead against Opposition Leader Anthony Albenese as the preferred PM 56-to-28.

The two-party preference vote is sitting at an even 50-50.

Mr Albanese’ approval satisfaction rate sits at 45 per cent, and data shows 34 per cent of voters are feeling dissatisfied with his performance.

The Advance Australia director Liz Storer explained to Sky News host Paul Murray that she is “glad” Mr. Morrison can see the high numbers because “goodness knows he’s been through the ringer this year”.

These Newspoll results were based on interviews from 1519 voters, which were conducted online, between April 22 and 25.
