ABC Radio announces Red Symons replacement
ABC Radio has announced who will be replacing Red Symons on the coveted Melbourne breakfast slot.
Comedian Sami Shah and broadcaster Jacinta Parsons will debut their new breakfast show in late January.
The pair filled in for Symons in August while the Symons was recovering from a fall which left him with a brain injury.
Symons announced his departure last week, hinting that it was not his decision to leave.
The 68-year-old has since decided to leave the ABC although he isn’t retiring altogether, saying he has received several job offers.
Director of ABC Radio Michael Mason said in a statement the public broadcaster is introducing co-hosted breakfast programs in capital cities after a successful trial in Adelaide.
"The industry benchmark for breakfast is for a two-person presentation," he said.
