Kyle Sandilands roasts Ben Fordham over new role replacing Alan Jones

Shock jock Kyle Sandilands has shared his two cents on the appointment of Ben Fordham as the new 2GB Breakfast show host after Alan Jones announced his retirement from radio.

Speaking on his KIIS FM radio program The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday morning, Sandilands said choosing the afternoons host as Jones’ replacement was a “massive mistake”.

“Ben Fordham need to cut his teeth a bit more,” Sandilands said.

“He’s too much of a yeller … he’s good in the afternoons. If it’s Ben Fordham, it’s a disaster. I like Ben, but nah.”

Sandilands rejected the suggestion that Fordham is a “star” on the Nine Network, which is owned by the same parent company as 2GB.

“He’s not the Channel 9 star – he’s never been a star in Channel 9’s eyes. He’d fill in for Karl [Stefanovic] when Karl was away, and that’s it,” Sandilands said.

“That’s what happens when a television station runs a radio network – no idea, no idea. That’s a massive mistake. Good luck, Ben Fordham.

“If you want to be yelled at by someone who knows nothing, Ben Fordham’s your man. Friend of mine, but now a mortal enemy to the death. I don’t mind Ben as a person, but he’s a little bit of a phony.

“Nice enough, I don’t know him well, but you can just tell this is a huge money-saving exercise over at 2GB.”

Sandilands also claimed he was once offered to jump ship to join the 2GB team.

“They made a real go to get me over at 2GB and I said, ‘No way would I ever been seen dead at the grandma station’,” Sandilands said. “You would have to learn about politics.”
