How to retire from work, not life

In this career-focused society of ours, it’s not unusual for people to feel a sense of loss when they finally take the leap into retirement. With so many of us linking our identity to our professional lives so strongly, more and more retirees are struggling with finding a sense of purpose after leaving their jobs once and for all. However, retiring from work doesn’t have to mean retiring from life.

While retirement is an ending of sorts, it’s first and foremost a new beginning. For Anne and Nick, this is especially true. After years of preparation – with finances and lifestyle – the couple’s retirement dreams have finally come true.

In fact, thanks to careful planning moving to the seaside, paying bills and leaving their careers hasn’t stopped the dynamic duo from being able to afford the biggest pleasures in life, like travelling.

“We definitely never had enough money to travel when we had a young family. I mean, you have different priorities,” Anne explains. “I thought once we retire, we wouldn’t be able to travel anymore. After four years, we had more money than we started with,” they reveal in this video.
