Director Stanley Kubrick’s stunning photos of 1940s New York

Stanley Kubrick has made a name for himself by directing films such as The Shining and 2001: Space Odyssey.

However, back in the 1940s, Stanley was a young adult who was mesmerised by photography.

Bored Panda has collected some of his most captivating shots of New York during this decade.

From his photography, Stanley quickly rose to fame as he improved his talent of telling stories through photos which eventually lead him to motion pictures.

Stanley once said of photography, “I think aesthetically recording spontaneous action, rather than carefully posing a picture, is the most valid and expressive use of photography."

If you think you have a knack for photography, follow this crucial advice from Stanley: “Think up ideas for stories, go out and shoot them, and then send them into the magazines. I was lucky; I figured that out when I was young."
