"We said YES!": Rebel Wilson drops major news about personal life
Rebel Wilson has announced her engagement to her now-fiancee, Ramona, Agruma, on Instagram.
In one of the snaps, the 42-year-old star showed off the engagement ring as the couple engaged in a kiss.
“We said YES! Thank you @tiffanyandco for the stunning ring and to Bob Iger and the incredible team at Disneyland @disneyweddings for pulling off this magical surprise!” Wilson wrote.
Wilson also shared a photo taken not long after she proposed during a trip to Disneyland.
The actress expressed her gratitude to Tiffany & Co. for the ring and to Bob Iger and the team at Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings for allowing her proposal to be all the more magical.
Wilson and Agruma can be seen wearing matching striped jumpers while the actress got down on one knee in front of Disney’s Magic Castle.
Friends of Wilson, including Kathy Hilton and Lindsey Vonn, shared their well wishes for the happy couple on the Instagram post.
The actress and Agruma were first introduced to one another by a mutual friend in late 2021.
Wilson spoke to People, recalling that she and her now-fiancee, who was not identified at the time of the interview, had made an effort to establish a genuine connection before their first date.
“We spoke on the phone for weeks before meeting. And that was a really good way to get to know each other. It was a bit old-school in that sense — very romantic,” Wilson told People.
The actress also commented that she felt much more supported in her new relationship.
“There were times — I'm not saying with all my exes, they're great — but there were some times that I was probably putting up with that I shouldn't have. So it feels different to be in a really healthy relationship,” she said.
The couple went on to make numerous public appearances with one another in early 2022 but did not confirm they were romantically involved at the time.
The pair made their relationship Instagram official in June 2022.
Wilson and Agruma’s later collaborated on a collection of loungewear called R&R club, which was released in November.
Engagement rumours began to circulate that same month, but Wilson publicly denied all claims.
Wilson surprised many when she revealed she had become a mother to her daughter, Royce Lillian, who was welcomed via surrogate on November 7 2022.
Prior to Royce’s arrival, Agruma threw a baby shower for Wilson, and the actress described her to People as “so amazing and such a great partner.”
On a recent podcast on Life Uncut, Wilson shared that while her family was happy for the couple, Agruma’s family weren’t as supportive.
“Ramona's family hasn't been as accepting. And so in many respects, it has been a lot harder on her to have to make the news public,” she said.
She also mentioned she wanted to be able to connect with Agruma’s loved ones in the future.
“I feel so sad to see what happened with her family over it. Hopefully, people will change their attitudes about things,” she said.
