Shocking new allegations about Prince Philip being unfaithful
Prince Philip is facing wild claims that he’s been cheating on the Queen for years.
According to The Sun, British Labour MP Emma Dent Coad alleged The Duke of Edinburgh has been “mucking about for years” behind The Queen's back.
The 62-year-old politician unleashed the extraordinary claim at a Reigning in The Monarchy event this week.
“The Queen might want to step back when her (cough, cough) soulmate is gone. He's been quite unfaithful for quite a few years,” Ms Dent Coad said at the gathering.
It’s not the first time the royal couple have been rocked by cheating allegations – in the past, Prince Philip has been linked to British author Daphne Du Mauriers, actress/dancer Pat Kirkwood and even, Princess Alexandra of Kent – the Queen’s cousin.
But none of these rumours have ever been proven true, although the second season of The Crown are set to explore some of these claims.
In March, the show’s creator Peter Morgan remarked: “Doesn't everyone in Britain know he had an affair?”
However, Prince Philip has always pledged his loyalty to Her Majesty. “My job first, second and last is never to let the Queen down,” he has previously said.
The Prince has also previously quipped: “How could I? I’ve had a detective in my company, night and day, since 1947.”
Labour MP Emma Dent Coad has since been asked to follow up on her wild allegations, telling the Evening Standard: “Oh no, shock horror. I’m not going to respond to that, everyone knows what’s going on... I don’t want to get into the detail of it because it’s got out of hand.”
“I was talking about whether taxpayers should fund the royal family. But we need a proper debate about the royal family. It’s about taxpayer funding.”
