Prince Harry mourns sudden loss

Prince Harry has lost his godmother, Lady Celia Vestey, at 71-years-old.

She was close to both the Queen and Prince Charles, and is reported to have “died suddenly, but peacefully”, a UK newspaper has written.

"Celia Elizabeth SRN BA. Died suddenly, but peacefully, on Saturday 28th November, aged 71 years," the dedication in the UK's Telegraph announced.

"Adored wife of Sam. Much loved mother of William, Arthur and Mary and loving Granny of Ella, Frankie, Sam and Cosima. Private family funeral. Memorial service later. Family flowers only please, but donations gratefully received in Celia's memory to Ebony Horse Club."

Lady Vestey had been seen a number of times in the royal box at Cheltenham and was part of the Queen's "racing circle".

Her husband, Samuel Vestey, 3rd Baron Vestey, was the Royal Household's Master of the Horse from 1999 to 2018, and in 2019 became one of Her Majesty's Lords-in-Waiting.

Following the birthday Harry, the close family friend was made godmother to the youngest son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana alongside others including, Prince Andrew, Lady Sarah Chatto, Bryan Organ, Gerald Ward and Carolyn Bartholomew, Princess Diana's former flatmate.

Lady Vestey has been a present force throughout the entirety of Harry’s major milestones including his confirmation day at Eton's school chapel and also at St George's Chapel for his wedding in 2018.

The Duke of Sussex has privately reached out to Lady Vestey's children, according to Hello! magazine.

The sad news follows after a heartbreaking revelation from Meghan Markle who announced in a sorrowful but beautiful written admission that she had suffered a miscarriage in July.

The couple's private pain was made public in an op-ed for the New York Times, which reflected on Thanksgiving and being more mindful for the struggle of others.
