Bindi Irwin opens about boyfriend: "Dad would have loved him"
Bindi Irwin is preserving her late father, Steve Irwin’s, legacy in many different ways.
She is following in his footsteps by pursing his same passion for wildlife and now, she has even fallen in love with an American, just like he did.
Bindi revealed to the Australian Women’s Weekly about the similarities between her and her father’s life as she has now found happiness with a wakeboard champion who Steve would “love”.
“Ever since I was a little boy, I was running around the backyard in Florida catching little snakes, lizards and alligators,” Bindi's boyfriend Chandler Powell said.
“I grew up outside, always jumping in the lake, always covered in mud.”
Chandler grew up in a small town near Tampa, Florida.
He is described as a passionate animal lover and admired the Irwin family and their work long before he met Bindi.
It was his passion for wildlife that led him to Australia Zoo where he first met Bindi.
“I believe there’s always someone for everyone and when you find that one, as we have found each other, it’s a real blessing and a privilege,” Bindi said.
“We all think Dad would have loved Chandler.”
