This simple trick fixes cloudy drinking glasses

If you have ever washed a batch of glasses but found them still looking foggy and in need of another clean, then one of two different issues could be happening.

Director of Cleaning Lab in the Good Housekeeping Institute Carolyn Forte explains that either the hard-water minerals are creating a film build-up or your dishwasher has permanently etched the glass.

To solve the former issue all you have to do is soak the glasses in white vinegar for five minutes. Since it’s acetic, it will dissolve the minerals very quickly. If stubborn sections of the glass are still looking cloudy, then gently rub them off with bicarb soda. Finish the glasses off by rinsing them by hand and drying them with a lint-free towel.

If this trick doesn’t remove the cloudiness, chances are that your glass is etched. "If the film is etching, which happens to some types of glassware in the dishwasher, that unfortunately is permanent and can't be removed," says Carolyn. To avoid this issue with your expensive glasses, wash them by hand in the future.
