5 things that shouldn’t be left in your bathroom

Although it is convenient to leave all your beauty and hygiene necessities in the medicine cabinet, you could be doing yourself more harm than good. Here are the items you shouldn’t leave in your bathroom as they can be damaged by a bathroom’s warm and wet environment.

1. Razor blades

If you purchase extra razor blades it is best not to leave them in the bathroom otherwise you will be throwing your money away. Due to the humidity in the bathroom, metal blades will oxidise and rust before you get a chance to use your spare blades. You can, however, store your razor blades in your bathroom if they are in an airtight package otherwise it is best to find a new home for them.

2. Make-up

It may be convenient to leave your make-up in the bathroom so it is ready for you to apply in the mornings but it won’t last as long. Make-up should be stored in a cool and dry location to maintain the quality and durability.

3. Make-up brushes

Don’t store your make-up brushes in the bathroom as they’ll be susceptible to germs from the toilet. Even if you store them in a drawer, the humidity will encourage the growth of bacteria and mould.

4. Perfumes

The dramatic temperature shifts in the bathroom will cause the perfume to sour quickly. Perfumes are best stored out of direct sunlight in a room where the temperature is constant.

5. Jewellery

Although it may be tempting to take your jewellery off in the bathroom before you have a shower or bath, it is best to get into the habit of taking it off in your bedroom beforehand. Cheap jewellery will rust in the bathroom’s moisture and real silver will tarnish more quickly than if it was stored in a cool environment. Plus, if you store your jewellery in the bedroom you’re less likely to misplace or lose it.
