Seven deadly snakes found in five-year-old's bed

With a wealth of deadly animals lurking around out homes, when you’re growing up in Australia the expression, “Good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite” can seem insufficient at times. Especially when you see footage like this.

Snake handler Raymond Hoser has released a stunning video of himself finding seven deadly copperhead snakes hiding in a five-year-old’s bed in Melbourne.

Hoser told Daily Mail Australia copperhead snakes were a rare sight to be hiding in a bed, with tiger snakes and red bellies more likely to be snuggling under the covers, and believes they were likely attracted by the mess in the room.

Hoser catches between 300 and 400 snakes every year, and while most of the serpents he’s sent out to retrieve are dangerous, he’s not afraid of getting bitten.

“In Melbourne, 99 per cent of what we find can kill you,” he said.

“Brown snakes, tiger snakes and copperheads are basically all we have - and they're all in the top five deadliest snakes in the world.”

While the manner in which he handles the snakes video above seems a little reckless, Hoser says the snake’s body language is generally a good indication of whether they’re planning to bite you or not, and the snakes in the bed appeared docile.

“Copperheads in particular, though they're deadly, don't bite much,” he explained.

“The babies are deadly too, but you'd have to be bloody unlucky to be killed by a baby copperhead.

“You get to know the body language of the snake, so you know if they're going to bite. These snakes weren't going to bite.”

What do you think? Have you ever had a snake in your house?
