Christmas genius: How to upstage your neighbour's lights display

A cheeky homeowner has upstaged their neighbour's extraordinary Christmas lights display by using a touch of sly humour – and probably only about $50 worth of effort.

Hundreds of residents have headed to Bilga Street in Kirrawee in Sydney's south already to check out the hilarious exhibit ahead of the festive season.

"This has been my favourite Christmas light display so far…" one woman wrote on Facebook.

"Hilarious. The poor house who made all that effort was outdone by four letters," wrote another.

"I have put up two reindeer and a sleigh (don’t know that the lights are working anymore). I want a ditto sign!" Another wrote.

After appearing on the Sunrise segment, thousands of online commentators will no doubt be re-thinking their Christmas lights strategy for next year – or indeed for this year, as it would take next to no effort to replicate such a thrifty, cheeky display.
