The rip-off item you should never buy from the supermarket

ALDI Australia is constantly embattled with Coles and Woolworths to be best known for their affordable prices and ease of purchase.

However, Yahoo Finance has revealed a number of ALDI stores around Sydney have sold a product of theirs for an astronomical amount in comparison to independent shops.

A 50 gram pack of long chillies for $2.99, which equates to $59.80 per kilogram is being sold for 4x the price of an independent fruit shop found just metres away in the same shopping centre.

The fruit shop was seen selling the same packaged chillies for $14.90 a kilo.

This means a common everyday product, is being sold for 300 per cent more at ALDI.

Coles and Woolworths have proven to not be much better although ALDI trumps for selling the most expensive vegetable by far.

The two rival supermarkets sell their chillis at $24.00 per kilo, marking ALDI at a $35.80 price surge.

Being price-conscious by shopping at smaller independent supermarkets ensures the big chains are being kept honest.
