The new cooking show that Aussies are going crazy for

There are plenty of cooking shows that are available for people to get hooked on, whether it be drama-filled My Kitchen Rules or the culinary-craft of The Great British Bake Off.

But now, there is a cooking show that viewers can actually relate to and it is taking the world by a storm.

Debuting on Netflix Australia on March 9, Nailed It follows the journey of hopeless bakers attempting to recreate professional cakes, so they can take home the $10,000 prize money.

The half-hour episodes are hosted by comedian Nicole Byer and chocolatier Jacques Torres, and the creators describe it as “part reality contest, part hot mess”.

The show lends its title from the “nailed it” memes that compare beautiful baked goods from Pinterest against kitchen disasters.

The two regular hosts are joined by a guest judge for each challenge and even famous cake designer Silvia Weinstock – designer of Kim and Kanye’s wedding cake – made an appearance.

And it's not only fans who are loving the new show, critics are also raving about it.

Reviewing it for Vulture Jen Chaney said, “Nailed It is a cooking show that celebrates human error over culinary mastery.

“It’s like The Great British Baking Show, if The Great British Baking Show featured contestants who are not British and think it’s a good idea to stick a bunch of Kit Kats into a microwave when a recipe calls for melted chocolate.”

The Guardian reviewer also gave the show a great review, describing it as “one of the most refreshingly shambolic cooking shows ever thrust upon the world”.

“Nobody here goes on a journey and nobody recalls a childhood memory in order to add a little pathos into their bake.

“[it’s] always bizarre and unexpected, a fun palette cleanser amid an array of otherwise serious food programming.”
