The sweet reason behind Harry and Meghan’s wedding cake choice
Preparations are in full swing for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s May 2018 wedding, and according to a royal insider, they’ve already settled on one important detail – the cake.
“This will be the first royal wedding cake made from bananas,” a source close to the couple told The Telegraph. And the reason for their untraditional flavour choice is adorable.
Not only is Harry bananas for the yellow fruit, but it’s played a cute (and a little cheeky) role in their budding relationship. Just days before their romance was officially confirmed by the royal family, the 36-year-old actress shared a cryptic yet sweet snap to Instagram of two cuddling bananas with the caption, “Sleep tight xx".
But they won’t be the first royal couple to break tradition and ditch the traditional fruitcake. When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge married in 2011, they had a groom’s cake made of chocolate biscuits, in addition to their traditional eight-tiered cake.
