Iconic bakery releases one-day-only chocolate cake

Sydney's Black Star Pastry - the masterminds behind the iconic Strawberry Watermelon Cake, dubbed the "world's most Instagrammed cake" by the New York Times - has teamed up with premium chocolate brand Koko Black to launch the Meteor Cake, an epic layered dessert that's quintessentially indulgent.

But, there's a catch.

The decadent dessert will only be available for one day on Wednesday, July 7, World Chocolate Day.

The Meteor Cake is made up of nine different chocolates, featuring layers of caramel chocolate, Muscavado sponge, hazelnut creme, praline crunch and feather-light chocolate mousse atop a bed of dark chocolate financier cake.

It's then finished off with a 'flying meteor' of hazelnut truffle and a blazing Sao Thome chocolate 'flame' and crumbled cocoa nib rubble.

The treat will be available to purchase for $15 at selected Koko Black and Black Star Pastry stores in Sydney, and Koko Black stores in Melbourne.

Those in lockdown will be able to preorder the exclusive treat as a four-portion-sized cake for $55 between Friday, 10 am on July 2 until Monday at 4 pm on July 5.
