Ham cheese pinwheels

An easy snack to make for parties or when the grandchildren are over, these ham and cheese pinwheels are a delight to eat.

Ingredients: 

Method: 

  1. Lightly flour a surface and unroll pastry. Spread a layer of tomato paste evenly over pastry, leaving a 1cm border around the edges.  Arrange ham slices evenly over top. Scatter grated cheese over.
  2. Brush edges of pastry with egg. Roll pastry as tightly as possible. Wrap each roll in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour. 
  3. Preheat oven to 180°C Line two baking trays with baking paper.
  4. Using a sharp knife cut each roll into 10 slices. Place cut side up on lined trays. Brush each pinwheel with egg. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until puffed and golden. Serve warm or cold.
