“It kills me”: Gordon Ramsay’s honest confession on MasterChef

When MasterChef contestant Chloe Carroll broke down in tears on Monday night's episode over missing her son's first day of school, acclaimed chef Gordon Ramsay offered her a few words of advice.

The 51-year-old revealed that he too had made sacrifices to achieve his success, and that it “killed him” to do so.

“Chloe, everybody needs to sacrifice to get to the top. That's life. This competition's a phenomenon,” he told Chloe, as her dish faced a tasting from the judges.

He went on: “The rewards at the top are extraordinary. I can give you 25 examples of what I've missed with my four kids over the last 10 years. And it kills me.”

The British chef concluded that the rewards are worth the struggle.

“But you get to a certain level of success in life, and there's a price to pay for that. So park that and continue on that journey,” Gordon concluded.

The chef has four children with wife Tana: Megan, 20, 18-year-old twins Jack and Holly, and Matilda, 16.
