The reason Prince George and Princess Charlotte won’t open presents on Christmas Day
The two eldest children of Prince William and Duchess Kate lead very different lives to most children.
And it turns out, their Christmas traditions also differ from other kids around the world.
When Christmas morning arrives, Prince George, 5, and Princess Charlotte, 3, will not be able to open their gifts.
This is because the adorable young royals and their baby brother, Prince Louis, will instead open their presents on Christmas Eve.
Speaking to the Express, former royal chef Darren McGrady said: “The royals are of German descent so they weave in German traditions to their celebrations.”
"After afternoon tea, they open gifts on Christmas Eve, as is the German tradition."
The royal family’s website confirms McGrady, saying: “On Christmas Eve, The Royal Family lay out their presents on trestle tables and will exchange their gifts at teatime."
This is a tradition that Prince Harry’s new wife, Duchess Meghan, will have to adjust to now that she is a member of the royal family.
The American former actress will be enjoying her Christmas as an official member of the royal family this year and her mum, Doria Ragland, has reportedly been invited too.
On Christmas Day, the royal family spend their morning attending two church services with the Queen.
The first service, at 9am, is a private one so the Queen can take communion.
The royals then return home and change outfits in time for the 11am service at St Mary Magdalene Church.
Children of the royal family don’t attend the services until they turn five, which means George may be in attendance for the first time.
