Royal dominoes: Second regal divorce in less than a week

The Queen’s nephew the Earl of Snowdon, 58, has announced that he and his wife are to divorce. This would be the second royal split in a week, as it comes six days after the Queen’s grandson, Peter Phillips, announced his divorce from his wife Autumn.

A spokesman for the Earl, son of the late Princess Margaret, said to The Sun:

“The Earl and Countess of Snowdon have amicably agreed that their marriage has come to an end and that they shall be divorced.

"They ask that the press respect their privacy and that of their family."

The Earl, David Armstrong-Jones, and his wife Serena are to separate after more than 25 years of marriage.

The couple wed in October 1993 and have two children, Viscount Linley, Charles Armstrong-Jones and Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones.

The 58-year-old became the second Earl of Snowdon following the death of his father, the photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones in 2017.

David Armstrong-Jones is known as being a furniture marker who has lectured around the world and has reportedly created the interiors of a number of exclusive homes in Central London. He is currently 21st in line to the throne.
