Melissa Doyle shares major family news that left her “bawling”

Former Sunrise host Melissa Doyle has shared some amazing family news about her son Nick Dunlop.

The 21-year-old, who is part of the Australian Rowing Team, has had a major win after taking home a gold medal in an international regatta held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

The journalist and proud mum couldn't hide her excitement as she took to Instagram to share a few snaps of her son and his team.

"Really trying hard not to be an embarrassing mum, but failing," she started the caption.

"Bawling like a baby. Gold! World Champions!! Back to back gold!"

Dunlop is a coxswain for Washington University in the US, which means he was responsible for steering the boat and co-ordinating the power and rhythm of the crew.

Dunlop represents Australia internationally, and proud mum Doyle couldn't help but gush about her stunning week in Bulgaria.

"What a week in Plovdiv! An absolutely gorgeous town - rich history & magnificent food. A gold medal certainly makes it even better!" she captioned another set of photos with her son.

Doyle's friends and fans took to the comments to congratulate the family.

“So amazing Mel. Huge congratulations Nick for all your hard work,” Sunrise host Natalie Barr said.

“Amazing!!!!! Congrats Nick 👏👏👏,”  TV presenter Sonia Kruger wrote.

“A m a z i n g 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 congrats to Nick and the whole crew,”  Morning Show host Kylie Gillies added.

"Frame that for the family wall 🙌😍" wrote one fan.
