Baby joy! Malcolm Turnbull welcomes new grandchild

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has become a grandfather for the fourth time.

The prime minister's son Alex, a hedge fund manager, and his wife Yvonne Wang welcomed a baby boy in Singapore on Wednesday morning local time.

While speaking to locals in Rockhampton on Wednesday, Mr Turnbull confirmed the news.

"Our son and his wife had their little boy today," he said.

The newest addition, who is yet to be named, is a little brother to Isla, who turns three later this year.

The baby is the fourth grandchild for Malcolm Turnbull and his wife of 38 years, Lucy.

The PM’s daughter Daisy and her husband James Brown, an Afghanistan war veteran, have two children: Jack, four, and Alice, one.

Last month, Mr Turnbull confirmed his son and daughter-in-law were expecting their second child in April during a 60 Minutes interview.

"Lucy and I are very proud grandparents," Mr Turnbull told Liz Little. "We’re happy to show you on our smartphones endlessly, as you know."
