Duchess Kate reveals the unique nickname Prince Harry has given her

The royal family really are just like us, with each member of the family having a special nickname of their own. With Queen Elizabeth being known as “Lilibeth”, Duchess Meghan as “Meg” and Duchess Camilla as “GaGa”, the tradition of nicknames has now extended to Duchess Kate.

Speaking to BBC Radio One, it was revealed that Prince Harry likes to call Duchess Kate, “Cath” – a short form of her full name Catherine.

Presenter Scott Mills asked, “That really confused me because everyone else calls you Kate – all the press call you Kate. Is this a thing just in the family?”

“I’m not sure, actually,” said the Duchess. “I’m not that familiar with it, I have to say. But I’ll answer to most things, to be honest.”

The Duchess has previously revealed her childhood nickname: Squeak – a name that she shared with her pet hamster.

Speaking to the children at St Andrew’s School in Pangbourne, Berkshire in 2012, she mentioned that, “There was one called Pip and one called Squeak because my sister was called Pippa and I was Squeak.”

Though in her later years, the Duchess was known to prefer the name Catherine when being referred to, a name that Prince William still calls her by.
