Top 4 myths about hair loss

No one enjoys suffering from hair loss, and due to a number of myths surrounding the condition, Dr Russell Knudsen, Australian hair transplant surgeon and founder of The Knudsen Clinic thought it was time to debunk some of the lies circulating.

Speaking to Better Homes and Gardens, these are some of the myth’s Dr Knudsen says you should stop believing.

Myth 1: Male baldness only affects older men

Not true. Male baldness can affect men as young as 20, with the condition becoming increasingly common amongst millennials due to stress and other environmental factors.

Myth 2: Women don’t experience hair loss

By the time a woman reaches the age of 50, there is a chance that she has joined the ranks of half of her age group experiencing hair loss.

Myth 3: Genetics have nothing to do with hair loss

Your genetic makeup has quite a lot to do with how much hair you will lose, with your heredity playing a huge part in the shedding of hair and how quickly it occurs.

Myth 4: Stress doesn’t affect loss of hair

Stress has a direct impact on our cellular health, which essentially goes on to damage cells including hair cells.
