The one thing you never knew about Jackie Kennedy

She’s one of history’s most renowned style icons but according to an upcoming memoir, there’s one thing we’ve never known about Jackie Kennedy.

In Jackie's Girl: My Life with the Kennedy Family, Jackie's longtime assistant reveals one little-known detail about her wardrobe. From 1964 and 1977, Kathy McKeon lived at Jackie’s Fifth Avenue apartment, maintaining her wardrobe.

"The bedroom walk-in closet was jam-packed with Madam's everyday clothing, all arranged according to colour. I had never seen such a dazzling selection of shoes! London-look boots, pumps in every colour, spotless sneakers for morning jogs around the reservoir,” McKeon writes.

It’s here McKeon reveals a fascinating tidbit about Jackie’s shoes.

"More intriguing to me was the quarter-inch lift affixed to one heel on each pair of shoes, apparently meant to compensate for one leg being slightly shorter than the other," she claims. "No one would have ever guessed.”

That’s right, a quarter-inch lift was present on one heel of every single pair of shoes she owned.

The detail is so minor that it’s thus far gone unnoticed by fans and auctioneers.
