Samuel Johnson opens up about life after Connie

After revealing he was “mostly too numb to feel much” following the death of his beloved sister Connie, Samuel Johnson has opened up about he’s coping without Connie by his side more than a month after she died.

The actor and tireless campaigner for cancer charity he founded with Connie Love Your Sister revealed he’s making an effort to take care of himself following the long, gruelling days he and the small team at Love Your Sister worked to organise Connie’s memorial services.

After writing a piece for Mamamia explaining how he and the team worked 14 consecutive days after Connie’s death, Samuel yesterday shared a Facebook post on how he realises he needs to look after his neglected health.

Posting a photo of himself holding a water bottle to the Love Your Sister Facebook page“, he wrote: Figured it would be good for me to take a walk after Con's death, seeing as it has been mostly barstools lately. Need to shake it off, ya know!"

“Beyond the mental health benefits of exercise of course, there's an actual reason why I've decided to pull my head out of my arse and stop being a pelican,” Samuel wrote, going on to explain he’d signed up for a 10km fundraising walk for Love Your Sister on Sunday.

Samuel and the team raised $21,851 of the $20,000 target by participating in the Melbourne Marathon Festival.

He wrote after the walk: “Turns out physical exercise really can help squash depression! We feel ridonkulously [sic] happy and proud, even though 40,000 other people just did the same thing!”
