The emotional moment you missed between Lisa Wilkinson and Jacqui Lambie

Jacqui Lambie has opened up to Lisa Wilkinson in an emotional interview on The Sunday Project, where she talked about how she had at one point contemplated suicide.

The former senator held nothing back in her deeply revealing interview with Wilkinson, explaining how she had fallen into a deep depression after excruciating back pain had led to her being medically discharged from the army.

“I had been screaming out for help from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs,” she told Wilkinson.

“No matter how much I screamed, I just got to a point (where) you’re just so empty, you don’t care anymore (and) you think, ‘my kids are better off without me’.”

Lambie had reportedly written letters to her son, before contemplating the act.

“Did you see the car coming and make a decision to walk in front of it?” Wilkinson asked.

Ms Lambie said: “I just remember thinking this is it, I’ve had it, this is it, I’ve just had it, I can’t do this anymore”.

“(The letters) were just short... just telling them... I have become a burden and I was no use to them anymore. And they would do very well in their lives and that whatever was left was theirs.

“We never actually talked about that, the three of us. So, yeah, it was really difficult time. The good thing out of that, that got me off Department of Veterans’ Affairs finally.”
