Australian psychic predicted Princess Mary’s royal future

She’s the Australian-born princess who is living a fairytale complete with a handsome prince and a brood of gorgeous children in a Danish castle.

But it seems a royal future was always in the cards for Princess Mary.

The now 45-year-old revealed to Jens Andersen, author of Prince Frederik's new biography Under the Bar, that when she was just 28-year-old Mary Donaldson (i.e. before meeting her Prince Charming) she had her tarot cards read as she wandering through a flea market.

The former advertising executive said the fortune teller predicted her life was on the verge on the big change – that she would meet a man from abroad, leave her job, move to Europe and become famous.

“So I left there and thought, ‘Well yes, that was a lot of fun, but nothing more’,” Princess Mary said, according to the Danish newspaper Kristeligt Dagblad, who this week released an excerpt from Prince Frederik’s new official biography.

Little did she know that she would soon meet Crown Prince of Denmark Frederik at the Slip Inn bar during the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

They would go on to marry in May 2004 at Copenhagen Cathedral in Copenhagen and nearly 14 years later, the royal couple have four children together - Prince Christian, aged 12, and Princess Isabella, aged 10, and six-year-old twins Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent.

Reflecting back on how their love story unfolded, Prince Frederik seemed sceptic about the tarot card readings but insisted he believed in fate.

“When I look back on all the exciting things that have happened to me, it's not random. But I don't try to look ahead and say, ‘Can I predict my destiny for the next two years?’” he said.

“I don't want to talk to anyone who claims they can. No one should read anything about me and my future.”
