Top 3 mistakes people make with hearing aids

When it comes to hearing aids it seems there a few things people are getting wrong. Are you making these common hearing aid mistakes?

Wearing hearing aids in the shower

Moisture can cause extensive damage to the complex electronic devices that are hearing aids. Water corrodes the internal electrical circuit and over time cause hearing aids to stop functioning properly. It is best to take hearing aids off when you’re showering, swimming and if possible, in heavy rain.

Continuing to wear uncomfortable hearing aids

Modern hearing aids are small, compact and sophisticated so nobody should be wearing hearing aids they find uncomfortable and don’t fit properly. If you experience pain or soreness while wearing your hearing aids, don’t just think that you have to suffer through it (or stop wearing them) – consult your audiologist and they can work out what the problem is.   

Not following up with your audiologist

Follow-up visit are the only way your audiologist can make sure your hearing aids are adjusted properly and working optimally. Instead of guess with the sound yourself, audiologist can use audio measurement tools to see how the hearing aid is performing and make any adjustments necessary.
