Richard Wilkins gives John Farnham health update

Aussie icon John Farnham is doing “OK” and is recovering well following his hospitalisation due to a chest infection, Nine’s Entertainment Editor Richard Wilkins said.

Wilkins appeared on the Today show to speak about a new authorised documentary following Farnham’s life, and he shared that the beloved singer was taking strength from loving friends and fans’ well wishes.

"John is doing OK. He had this chest infection off the back of the tumour removal out of his mouth but he is doing OK, under medical supervision on the road to recovery," Wilkins told Today.

"But it is a long road. Thankfully they found the damn thing before it got any worse.

"John is so buoyed by the love and support, set this website up where people can leave support and messages for him. He knows how much affection and love there is for him.”

Farnham has been undergoing constant treatment, care and rehabilitation over the past few months following his surgery to remove mouth cancer.

He was admitted to hospital in late March after a respiratory infection.

While the star deals with his continuous health battle, his team have been busy working on the release of his upcoming documentary Finding the Voice.

The biopic will show never-seen-before footage of the singer, following his journey on the road to fame.

It will also feature interviews from several music greats including Olivia Newton-John, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Jimmy Barnes, Richard Marx, and Daryl Braithwaite.

Finding the Voice is set for release on May 18.
