Jimmy Barnes shares updates on "long road ahead"

Jimmy Barnes has shared another update about his recovery from open-heart surgery, saying that there is "a long road ahead" following his latest check-up.

The 67-year-old was admitted into hospital for emergency heart surgery after complications from a bacterial infection just weeks before Christmas.

Since then, Barnes and his wife Jane have been keeping fans updated on his recovery progress.

“Always good to leave the hospital smiling. There’s still a long road ahead and many more check ups,” the Aussie Rocker shared to his Instagram followers on Thursday.

“There was a team of seven specialists working on me, so there is a lot to follow up on.”

The Flame Trees singer shared that he'd had enough of intravenous medications and couldn't wait to have his peripherally inserted central catheter removed.

“Another set of good bloods and it’s off with the ‘PICC Line’,” he wrote.

“I’m sure it’s saved my life but I cannot wait to be free.”

Despite everything, Barnes still looks on the bright side, and showed his gratitude for his wife Jane and her excellent cooking skills.

“Thai beef curry is just what the doctor ordered,” he concluded the post, with a picture of Jane's homemade dish.

Fans took to the comments to share their support.

“Great stuff! As Rocky would say ‘It’s not how hard you hit, but how hard you get hit and keep getting up again’, wrote one fan.

“You can do it Jimmy,” another commented.

“That’s great news Jimmy. You are in the best hands both on a medical and personal level," a third added.

“Great news and good to see you’re recovering well, nurse Jane is doing a fantastic job with all your meals,” wrote a fourth.
