Inspirational Johnny Ruffo shares uplifting message during cancer battle

Two months ago, Johnny Ruffo shocked the nation when he revealed he had been diagnosed with brain cancer after suffering what he thought was just a headache.

After having emergency brain surgery, the former “Home and Away” star and “X Factor” contestant is still on the road to recovery having to undergo radiotherapy and chemotherapy to remove the remaining 5 per cent of the tumour.

It’s raining purple 💜 Ready for the Walk 4 Brain Cancer today @curebraincancer 👊🏽 #teamjohnny

"I've been through six weeks of radiotherapy and I'm starting chemotherapy very soon," Ruffo told TV Buzz. "Fingers crossed that it's easy and hopefully I get through that unscathed."

Despite his whole ordeal, the 29-year-old has remained utterly positive and has even thrown his support behind a big fundraiser for brain cancer research.

The actor also took to the stage with fellow X Factor alumni Matt and Jess to perform a song.

He posted the video to his Instagram with the caption: "Thankyou SO much to everyone that attended or donated to the @curebraincancer walk today.& thanks to @jess_and_matt for having me on stage #nothingholdingmeback"

The Aussie darling has been bravely sharing his emotional journey with the nation.
