Dad slammed for taking 4-year-old daughter into women’s toilet

A parenting forum has erupted after a mum claimed dads should not be allowed in women’s toilets with their young daughters.

A user wrote on forum Mumsnet, “When [four-year-old daughter] needs the loo in a public place, he takes her to the ladies' loos. I told him that women don't like that and he should take her to the men's loo. [Am I right] or is he?"

It seems the poster and her husband were in disagreement after a mum witnessed a father taking his daughter to the women's toilets at a local shopping centre.

Opinions were firmly divided with some saying that men should take their daughters to the men’s toilets while others saying that female toilets were fine.

One user wrote: "I understand the conflict, but I would rather a father in the ladies - individual cubicles - than a four-year-old girl being taken into the gents with no idea what she might see. (And I've wandered into the gents accidentally a couple of times, they're not nice places! Smelly, grubby...)”

Others suggested that dads take their daughters to disabled toilets, unisex bathrooms or if one was available, a family or parenting toilet.
