Sydney mums online coronavirus spat turns into street brawl

Two women from a Sydney mothers’ group have been taken to hospital after an online argument about coronavirus escalated into a violent brawl.

The women, both in their 30s, were involved in an argument on a group chat site about the new coronavirus and its effects, according to Northern Beaches Police.

The pair then agreed to meet and “resolve their differences in person”, with one reportedly bringing another member of the mothers’ group for back-up.

Police said the verbal argument turned physical, with the women “pushing, slapping, hair pulling and finally both on the ground, briefly unconscious” amid bystanders’ efforts to intervene.

Both women were hospitalised, with one having a possible brain injury and the other sporting a shoulder injury, cuts, bruises and swellings.

A Personal Violence Order was taken out by police for one woman against the other as police continue their investigations.
