Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s terrifying security scare

It’s been revealed that Prince Harry and his fiancée Meghan Markle were the subjects of a royal security scare, after they were sent a letter containing a white powder, initially suspected to be anthrax.

Specialist teams were called in to analyse the powder, which was sent to St James’ Palace, before it reached the couple. Lucky, tests found the substance was harmless.

However, that’s not all that was found in the envelope.

According to The Guardian, the package also contained a racist note, presumably addressed to Meghan, who is of a mixed-race background.

In a statement provided to The Guardian by Scotland Yard, police confirmed they are treating the incident as a “hate crime”.

“Officers are also investigating an allegation of malicious communications, which relates to the same package, and it is being treated as a racist hate crime. The matter is being investigated by officers from the Met’s counter-terrorism command.”

A package containing white powder was also sent to the Houses of Parliament the following day, which was also found to be harmless. Police are now investigating if the two incidents are linked.
