New research shows boozy BBQs are bad for you

A new study has confirmed that eating red meat and drinking alcohol on a regular basis increases your risk of developing bowel cancer.

This is bad news for Aussies who love a barbeque and to have a few drinks.

Researchers from the United States and Malaysia analysed 45 global studies that looked at diet and bowel cancer to come up with the findings.

It is currently Australia's second most deadly cancer and is expected to kill more than 5,000 Aussies in 2021.

Sunrise GP Ginni Mansberg said that Australians shouldn't eat red meat more than three times a week.

“When it comes to red meat and alcohol, probably less is more,” she explained, adding that “every Australian needs to be eating more vegetables.”
