The verdict is in: These are the most trusted brands that Aussie shoppers love

When it comes to shopping and which products to choose at the supermarket or online, trust has never been more important. With constant reviews on Google and social media, how do we know which brands we can actually trust?

Thankfully, Australia’s Most Trusted Brands have just been announced for 2019.

Appearing exclusively in the May edition of Australian Reader’s Digest magazine, the independently conducted 20th Anniversary Trusted Brands survey polled a cross-section of more than 3,000 Aussies across the country, asking them which brands they couldn’t live without.

“The digital world is awash with fake news and social media tribes, which can make consumer trust hard to earn and maintain,” explained Australian Reader’s Digest Editor-in-Chief, Louise Waterson.

“But the value of being a trusted brand shouldn’t be ignored as it truly matters to consumers.”

True Blue Aussie brands such as Qantas and Bunnings placed within the top 20, with homecare brand Dettol voted as Australia’s most trusted overall and Vegemite voted most ‘iconic’.

This year’s Trusted Brands includes a range of service categories targeted at over-60s, including Aged Care & Retirement Living – which was won by not-for-profit organisation Anglicare, as well as Banking and Cruise Operators which were won by P&O and Bendigo respectively.

Some of the more delicious winners that placed in the survey were, Bega who took out this year’s Cheese category, Manuka Health  for honey, Sanitarium Weet-Bix for breakfast food, as well as everyone’s favourite confectionery brand, Cadbury.

Big ticket items such as air conditioners and cars were won by stalwarts Fujitsu and Toyota, with the biggest ticket item of all – property development, being won by Stockland with commendations for AV Jennings and Lendlease.

The “bathroom cabinet” was won by Panadol for pain relief, with Band-Aid coming in first for plasters and adhesive bandages, and Vicks for easing coughs and colds.

For cleaning up the kitchen it was Finish, Pine O Cleen and Glen 20.

Any keen gardeners should know that market-leading brand Stihl was selected as Australia’s most trusted garden power tools, with Yates voted first in gardening products.
