Melbourne gardener finds tens of thousands of dollars in yard
A Melbourne woman who headed out to her front yard to garden has stumbled upon tens of thousands of dollars.
The Donvale woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, was shocked to dig up a whole stack of old-style paper banknotes hidden in the front of her home on Friday.
She has handed in her stash to police who say the money is worth tens of thousands of dollars and could be decades old.
Investigations have now opened to see if the cash can be traced to an owner and determine if the money is related to a crime.
Police have not disclosed the exact amount of money found but said if the owner is not found in three months the money will default to the Donvale home owner.
