Lisa Wilkinson reveals the real reason she left Today

When Lisa Wilkinson announced her shock departure from the Today show in October the television world was turned on it’s head. But if a new interview with the TV star is anything to go by, it’s a move we perhaps should’ve seen coming.

A report on News.com.au suggests the veteran journalist was sick of being paid $1.1 million a year compared to co-host Karl Stefanovic’s $2 million annual salary.

“You can see women have had enough,” the 57-year-old told News.com.au.

“...the gender pay gap, domestic violence, homelessness is on a huge rise in this country, particularly for women over 50.”

Since leaving Today, Lisa has reportedly been enjoying some time off before she heads back to work to join the panel on Channel Ten’s The Project in January 2018.

“It’s heavenly, I’ve discovered I love sleep, I never had a problem sleeping and I’m just getting a lot more these days and it feels great,” she said.
