The very confusing parking sign baffling local residents – can you work it out?

While Australia is notorious for having parking signs that are baffling to interpret, this parking sign on the Gold Coast takes the cake.

On Paradise Island street, two signs stand just inches from each other, with one displaying a two-hour time limit and the other a three-hour limit.

Local resident Tim Ellis told The Gold Coast Bulletin that the two-hour limit was the original sign and “has always been there” despite “a lot of different signage in the area”.

“All of a sudden they've put this three-hour parking sign there,” he said.

Mr Ellis claimed the new sign came around the same time as the Commonwealth Games.

“It's confusing to me. What is it? Two hours? Three hours? Or do we get five hours?,” he joked.

The Gold Coast Bulletin contacted the Gold Coast council for answers about the correct parking time limit.

However, RACQ, the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland, said it was a three-hour parking area and a three-hour limit applied everywhere there wasn’t a sign.
