Kerri-Anne Kennerley sues golf club over husband’s life-changing injury

Kerri-Anne Kennerley has filed a lawsuit against the golf club where her late husband John fell three years ago, leaving him a paraplegic for the rest of his life.

The case was lodged a few months prior to his passing and is demanding unspecified damages against Bonville International Golf Club for negligence in its duty of care.

Three years ago, John Kennerley was taking a photograph on the clubhouse veranda before he fell off and suffered from fractures in his C3 and C4 vertebrae. The injury left him paralysed from the neck down.

But the club refuses to take accountability, saying the incident was caused by John’s “own negligence” as he didn’t watch where he was walking.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Kerri-Anne has revealed details about the court case, where she slammed the insurance company for “dragging” out the proceedings.

“Whatever the circumstances are, for an accident for any insurance company to drag something out for almost three-and-a-half years is despicable,” she said.

After the tragic fall, John was immediately rushed to hospital where he was placed into an induced coma. He then went through surgery on his spine but regardless, he was unable to move and was forced to learn how to talk again.

John Kennerley passed away in February 2019, and the age of 78.
