Man in viral dashcam video charged with reckless driving
The unwitting star of a viral dashcam video, who can be seen driving on the wrong side of the road and swerving erratically, has been charged.
Last Sunday morning, Facebook user Jess Green uploaded footage from her dashcam of a Nissan Skyline GTR driving dangerously along Cessnock Road at Gillieston Heights in NSW’s Hunter region.
“This happened today heading towards Maitland from Heddon Greta,” Green captioned the terrifying video. “Some people need to wake up! We are a week out from Christmas and you put so many people in harm’s way! I hope the cops get you.”
And they did just that. An hour after the incident, a 39-year-old driver was stopped on Maitland Road and arrested. After being taken to Cessnock Police Station, he was charged with driving in a manner dangerous, negligent driving, overtaking to the left of a vehicle, and not keeping left of a dividing line.
The man was granted bail and is set to appear in Kurri Kurri Local Court on January 11.
