Aussie dad's hilarious excuse for $1500 speeding fine

A Western Australian truckie has given a bizarre excuse to police after he was pulled over on Monday for driving 37km above the speed limit on Monday.

According to the speeding ticket, he was caught driving his semi-trailer 97km/h in a 60 zone through the regional town of Pithara, 260km north of Perth.

And what was his explanation to the cops? He told the officer: “I needed to sh*t, kids have given me gastro”.

But he found no sympathy with the police, who fined him $1200 fine and 12 demerit points. Unfortunately, double demerits were in place while the state celebrated their Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

It seems the unnamed driver isn’t the only West Australian to get creative with their excuses.

Last week, a driver was caushgt driving 132km/h in a 110 zone, and pleaded their case by saying: “I’m on cruise control!”.

In April, a Wanneroo man made headlines when he was fined $300 and six demerit points after he was caught running a red light.

His excuse? He told police: “I’m in a rush to get the kids Nando’s”.

But we’ll leave you with the best (or worst) excuse.

In January, officers from Three Springs, a small town about 320km north of Perth, fined a driver $200 and two points for driving 127km/h in a 110 zone.

Why was he speeding? “The wind was pushing me,” he explained.
